Who We Are

Geoff and Jeremy met as doctoral students at Yale and have maintained a friendship over the years as their careers traced similar paths back to their original passion: the Classics. Their academic qualifications are unsurpassed (Harvard, Yale, Oxford), and they have taught and studied at some of America’s best secondary schools (Andover, Deerfield, Choate, Convent of the Sacred Heart), as well as worked full-time in both higher education and the standardized testing industry. They know what it is like to be in today’s high-pressure, high-stakes school environment, where students aim for top grades, high test scores, and admission to selective colleges. Geoff and Jeremy both left full-time positions in education to found Per Portas Education because they are passionate about tutoring Latin and Greek and eager to work together to help students pass through their chosen door, whether it be a 5 on the AP exam, a better grade on that upcoming Latin or Greek test, or preparation for advanced study of the Classics.
